Samurah ibn Jundab, may Allah be pleased with him, reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Clothe yourselves in white. Verily, it is cleaner and purer, and you should shroud your dead in it.”
In another narration, the Prophet said, “Verily, it is the best of your garments.”

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whatever is below the ankles from the lower garment will be in the Fire.” (Al-Bukhāri, no. 5787).
NB: A local tailor may be able to shorten your garment for less.
